Settler teen arrested for West Bank mosque arson

Judea and Samaria district police on Sunday arrested a 17-year-old settler they suspect took part in the “price tag” arson attack on a mosque in Jab’a, south of Ramallah, on June 19.

The boy was arrested at Lake Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee) where he was vacationing with his family.

Police detained two other youths last month in connection to the crime. Both were released due to insufficient evidence.

The arsonists at the Jab’a mosque spray-painted the words “Ulpana War” on a wall of the mosque, a reference to the contested outpost next to Beit El. The reference to Beit El led police to view the incident as a price-tag attack, the name given to acts of violence or vandalism committed to protest Israeli government actions against settlements.

Bedfordshire Police refuse to take action over BNP leaflet that incites hatred against Muslims

Linda Jack with BNP leaflet

A former MP candidate has said that she is shocked that no action is being taken against a British National Party leaflet that she believes is “racist”.

Linda Jack, of Furze Close, Luton, said she was disgusted when the leaflet came through the door early last Sunday morning, and branded its literature “nasty” and “offensive”.

Under the title “Racist Muslim Paedophilia”, the content read: “The facts of the matter are that the “Pedostani” gangs could not have got away with their sick and evil crimes for so long had the establishment not turned a blind eye.”

Anti-racists saw off a National Front-organised protest in Sunderland on Saturday. The fascist National Front was protesting at Sunderland council’s recent decision to grant planning permission for the construction of a new mosque in the Millfield area of the city.

Up to 150 people – local Muslims, trade unionists, Greens and socialists – responded despite less than 48 hours’ notice, gathering to counter the anti-Muslim demonstration.

Derisory turnout for German Defence League’s ‘march of the patriots’ in Cologne

Marsch der Patrioten advertUnder the slogan “march of the patriots” the EDL’s sister organisation, the German Defence League, organised a procession and rally in Cologne yesterday.

Sebastian Nobile, leader of the GDL’s Cologne Division, had issued a call to “representatives of all liberal, conservative, patriotic parties and organisations” to join the GDL’s demonstration, appealing to right-wingers to put aside their differences “for the sake of our country and our future”. In the event, according to a report in the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, only 50 marchers rallied to the GDL’s cause, while an anti-fascist counter-demonstration drew 150 participants.

Protests staged over faith group plan for building in Thurnby Lodge, Leicester

Thurnby Lodge protest
Last night’s protest on Thurnby Lodge estate – spot the fascist

A series of late-night protests have been staged against a faith group’s plan to convert a disused Scout hut in Leicester into a community centre.

Dozens of police have been stationed in Thurnby Lodge estate for the past few nights to oversee the peaceful demonstrations, which at their height have attracted up to 150 people.

Residents said they were angry the former Scout hut in Nursery Road looked likely to become a community centre operated by Islamic charity the As-Salaam Trust. They would like the building, which has been empty for several years, to be developed for the wider community. They are also concerned about extra traffic the centre might create.

Kotka mulls mosque ban

Officials in the south-eastern city will later this month take a stand on a local council proposal to ban mosques.

In 2009, Finns Party councillor Freddy van Wonterghem made the proposal, which seeks to ban buildings “harmful to the cultural identity of the city.”

The proposal will come before the city planning board on August 21. Kotka city zoning chief Lars Olsson says current laws don’t provide for a ban on building mosques and says public debate is instead needed on Finns’ attitudes toward newcomers and representatives of different faiths.

DHS crushed this analyst for warning about far-right terror

Daryl Johnson Right Wing ResurgenceSpencer Ackerman talks to Daryl Johnson, a former government counterterrorism analyst who spent 15 years studying domestic terrorist groups – particularly white supremacists and neo-Nazis – only to have an analysis he wrote (“Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment“) repudiated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Johnson used to work for DHS’s analysis section, the Office of Intelligence and Analysis. He supervised a team of six analysts studying what he calls “domestic non-Islamic extremism” (by contrast, the DHS employed as many as 40 analysts to look at al-Qaida and other jihadist groups). After complaints by conservatives Johnson’s team was closed down and there is now just a single analyst at DHS responsible for tracking all domestic non-Muslim extremism.

“DHS is scoffing at the mission of doing domestic counterterrorism, as is Congress,” Johnson says. “There’ve been no hearings about the rising white supremacist threat, but there’s been a long list of attacks over the last few years. But they still hold hearings about Muslim extremism. It’s out of balance.”

Johnson has written a book, Right-Wing Resurgence: How a Domestic Terrorist Threat is Being Ignored, which is scheduled for publication next month.

EDL Essex division promotes Chelmsford anti-mosque demo with neo-Nazi video

Whitelaw Kick the Reds In YouTube

Not content with getting three of its members arrested during a recent demonstration in Chelmsford, the English Defence League is returning on 18 August to continue its protest against the plan to build a so-called “mega-mosque” in the Essex city.

The EDL Essex division are publicising the event on their Facebook page. As you can see, one EDL member has responded to leftist critics of the demonstration by posting a link to a YouTube video (see above) featuring a song by the neo-Nazi band Whitelaw entitled “Kick the Reds In” (this is what passes for a witty pun in Blood & Honour circles).
