Pig’s head found in Islamic prayer centre in Milan

PalaSharp ArenaA pig’s head was found on Friday at the PalaSharp Arena in Milan where the local Islamic community holds weekly prayers. The head was found by delegates of the civil protection agency in an area close to where ceremonies are held every Friday.

PalaSharp is an indoor arena, located in the northern Italian city of Milan. It has a seating capacity of almost 9,000 and is also used for concerts and sporting events.

Local authorities have vigorously condemned the incident. Vice-Mayor Maria Grazia Guida called it “intolerable”. “It is light years away from this city of dialogue, of tolerance we are building,” she said. The matter is being closely followed by police.

On 26 March 2012 at Juvisy-sur-Orge (in the Essonne department) a young woman wearing a veil was attacked. She was leaving a branch of the state employment agency Pole Emploi and returning to her car. She was violently asssaulted, threatened with a knife and insulted as a “dirty terrorist” and “dirty Arab”, while the individual tried to tear off her veil and steal her watch. Although the attackers could be identified by a DNA test, the prosecutor refused, because it “costs too much money”.

Hunt not over for Kingston mosque attackers

Kingston mosque attack suspect 1Exclusive pictures of some of the men still wanted by police in connection with the attack on Kingston Mosque, some wielding sticks, have been released by detectives in a fresh bid to hunt them down.

Witnesses said as many as 30 people may have been part of the threatening mob that threw beer bottles, sticks and bacon at the mosque on November 21, 2010. But only three people have been convicted so far for the terrifying assault that left worshippers cowering inside the mosque. Now police are calling on the public and the men who were acquitted to help catch the rest of the thugs.

Dearborn has ‘history of discriminating against Christians who want to speak out against the internal threat of Sharia law and Islam’ says lawyer, after judge rules in favour of Terry Jones’ mosque protest

Terry Jones ban sharia placardA federal judge ruled today in favor of Quran-burning pastor Terry Jones, saying he can protest this Saturday outside a Dearborn mosque without having to sign a legal agreement from the city of Dearborn.

U.S. District Judge Denise Page Hood ruled in favor of Jones, who intends to hold a protest against Islamic extremism at the biggest mosque in metro Detroit. The city of Dearborn has said it wanted Jones to sign a “hold harmless” agreement that would require the Florida pastor to forfeit all legal rights stemming from any possible incident at the planned protest.

Earlier this week, the Thomas More Law Center, a conservative Christian group in Ann Arbor, filed a lawsuit against the city on behalf of Jones, saying his constitutional rights were being attacked by the city because of the requirement to sign the “hold harmless” agreement. Judge Hood said the requirement “violate the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.”

Ex-BNP councillor under investigation by standards board for circulating Leo McKinstry attack on Muslims

Graham PartnerA Leicestershire county councillor is being investigated after distributing a leaflet which criticised Muslims.

Earlier this year, Graham Partner – who quit the BNP to sit as an independent – sent out a New Year message to voters in his Coalville division. It featured part of an article from a national newspaper which said victimhood “comes easily” to followers of Islam.

The article added: “Every terrorist atrocity, every blood-soaked massacre is justified by reference to imagined grievances. But the greatest persecutors of other faiths are Muslim, themselves. The response from the Western church leaders is deafening silence, afraid to accept that their ideological paradise of multi-cultural, multi-faith, left-wing society is nothing more than a fantasy.”

Hampshire Football Association takes action over EDL supporter’s Facebook comments

Steve Clarke EDLA youth football team manager whose Facebook page had racist and homophobic comments on it has been charged by Hampshire Football Association.

Steve Clarke, who manages the under-15s squad at Havant & Waterlooville Youth FC, faces two charges. He is accused of improper conduct and of making comments deemed to be of a racist nature.

Hampshire FA and the Football Association last month launched an investigation after Havant & Waterlooville Youth FC passed on information regarding allegations made about Mr Clarke on an internet blog.

When he was approached by The News, Mr Clarke, from Havant, strongly denied making any racist or homophobic comments. He said the only explanation he could think of for the comments appearing on his page was that his profile on the social networking website had been hacked. He told The News he no longer holds a Facebook account.

Mr Clarke, who has previously used an image of himself pictured with young players as his profile picture on Facebook, has been given until April 12 to respond to Hampshire FA about the two allegations.

Attorneys ask judge to throw out legal challenge to Murfreesboro Islamic Center

Murfreesboro Islamic Center under construction

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The final legal hurdle over construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro may be over.

County attorneys asked a judge to throw out the final legal challenge on Wednesday. Opponents have argued the county failed to give sufficient public notice before approving the project.

The judge will review the motion on April 19. County officials are hoping he will toss out a lawsuit that claims they did not give proper notice when approving building plans for the new Islamic Center of Murfreesboro.  Mosque opponents say they are readying a response.

Meanwhile, major progress has been made in construction of the center.  Distinctive arches have taken shape, the frame of the building is complete and workers are starting to put bricks around it.

“We are so excited,” said Imam Ossama Bahloul.  “I think when we have the new facility it will be a time for us to celebrate freedom of religion.”

Lanarkshire: former mosque to be demolished following fire

Carfin mosque fireAn investigation has been launched after fire ripped through a derelict building at Carfin cross.

Emergency services rushed to the former mosque building following reports it was well ablaze on Thursday evening.

The damage caused has reduced the already dilapidated building to little more than a wreck, with North Lanarkshire Council confirming it will need to be demolished as the Times & Speakerwent to press.

Bellshill Speaker, 5 April 2012

From 1986 the building served as the main mosque in Lanarkshire, but closed in 2004 upon completion of the Lanarkshire Central Mosque. Still, in the current climate, it would be foolish to rule out arson motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment.
