UKIP leader denounces ‘Ayatollah Livingstone’, calls for second preference vote for Boris Johnson

Farage and flagBoris Johnson continues to win support from the anti-Muslim right for his bid to be re-elected to the London mayoralty. Following on from his endorsement by the English Defence League’s football hooligan section, UKIP is now calling on its supporters to cast their second preference vote for Johnson.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has explained: “Ken Livingstone is dangerous and does not represent the aspirations of Old Labour at all. His comments on Islam, calling for London to be a ‘beacon for Islam’ and to spend the next four years ensuring Londoners know the teachings of Mohammed are divisive, opportunistic and totally unacceptable.

“He has clearly been learning politics from George Galloway and is pandering dangerously to one religious group. He is standing to be the Mayor for the whole of London and, particularly with the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee celebrations, should be someone all Londoners can respect and be proud of.

“While we have deep reservations about some of Boris Johnson’s views, especially his support for amnesties for illegal immigrants, we now recommend that Londoners give him their second preference vote. Ken Livingstone – Ayatollah Livingston – would be a disaster for London.”

“It is now a year since the French government implemented a ban on the wearing of face coverings in public spaces, aimed at women who wear the full-face veil, popularly and incorrectly referred to as the ‘burqa’. Advocates of the ban argued it would protect gender equality and help maintain public order. A year later, it has done neither.” Hélène Irving reports.

Islam has made London a more conservative place than it was 50 years ago

So Ed West claims on his Telegraph blog. “The new conservatism of London has already had profound effects, as demographic changes gather pace”, he tells us.

The evidence West presents to justify the assertion that London’s Muslim community is having such an impact on a city in which 92% of the population is non-Muslim is, unsurprisingly, thin to say the least. He refers us to the hyped-up story about an alcohol ban at London Metropolitan University and to some swimwear adverts having been defaced in Tower Hamlets, where he invites us to believe there is a particular problem with homophobic violence (omitting to mention that the problem is much more serious in neighbouring Islington). Oh, and seven years ago Tate Britain decided not to show a piece of conceptual art that featured the Qur’an.

And that’s it. That’s the basis on which we’re asked to accept that Muslims (with some small assistance from “African Christians”) have turned London into “one of the most religiously conservative places in England”.

Muslim (and non-Muslim) opposition grows to religious freedom nominee

Zuhdi JasserMore than 50 Muslim and non-Muslim civic and religious groups asked leading senators on Thursday (April 12) to rescind the appointment of an outspoken Muslim activist, Zuhdi Jasser, to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

Jasser, a Navy-trained physician, is decrying the effort – and others to oust him from the independent watchdog panel – as a “smear tactic.”

A separate online petition that began circulating last week, also asking for his ouster, has garnered more than 2,000 signatures.

Finns Party MP’s assistant suggests armbands for immigrants

According to the Turun Sanomat, Finns Party MP James Hirvisaari, who was last year convicted and fined by Kouvola District Court for incitement to ethnic or racial hatred, is in trouble again.

This time the cause is his parliamentary assistant Helena Eronen, who suggested on her blog on the Uusi Suomi website that making it mandatory for immigrants to wear armbands would make policing significantly easier.

“If every foreigner was obliged to wear a mark on their sleeve stating their country of origin, then the police could see at a glance that ‘aha, there’s a muslim from Somalia’, or ‘aha, that’s a beggar from Romania’,” Eronen wrote. Muslims could be assigned a crescent mark, Eronen added, and Russian immigrants a hammer and sickle emblem. She also proposed identifying marks for Swedish Finns and homosexuals.

Marine Le Pen tells Jerusalem Post that Sarkozy has encouraged ‘fundamentalists’, claims UOIF has called for murder of Jews

Marine Le Pen 100 percent IsraelMarine Le Pen, the National Front candidate for the French presidential election, accused rival President Nicolas Sarkozy of having sent “a simple message” when some Islamists were arrested on French territory, after French forces assaulted Mohamed Merah’s house last month. Le Pen was speaking at a press conference with foreign journalists in her campaign headquarters at Nanterre, west of Paris.

Responding to a question from The Jerusalem Post, following the surprising absence of mentions in electoral debates of the shootings in the southern French town of Toulouse, Le Pen criticized Sarkozy, calling his crackdown on Islamists “merely electoral agitation after the Merah affair.”

“A few arrested Islamists and that is all… [Sarkozy] is not dealing with the real problem of fundamentalism, although he has been in charge of national security for the past 10 years.” For Le Pen, Sarkozy, like his predecessors, “deliberately downplayed the threat from Islamists who want to see France as we know it disappear in favor of Shari’a.”

Going further, she accused her main rival for the voice of the right wing to have even “opened the door to the UOIF who called for the murder of Jews”. “He provided the first steps to the ladder for the fundamentalists in France and internationally,” she said.

Diverse interfaith coalition stands united in solidarity with Muslim community

Dozens of diverse community members of many faiths attended yesterday’s school board meeting to request the school board not to give in to censorship by banning advocacy groups at the request of anti-Muslim extremists.

The board agreed that there is no place for censorship in America and that the current policies which permit teachers to invite qualified speakers to schools do not need to be changed. Those pushing for censorship claim that their problem was only with CAIR, not Islam, however, their statements caught on video shows that they really wished to attack Islam and Muslims as a whole. Their attack on CAIR was simply because CAIR is the largest Muslim civil rights organization.

Nonetheless, dozens of community members came out to oppose the hate and show solidarity with the Muslim community.

‘Breivik was cunning’, says EDL leader

Tommy Robinson, leader of the English Defence League, has spoken positively about Anders Behring Breivik’s approach to his twin attacks.

In an interview with Dagbladet he said justifying the attack on Utøya, which some conspiracy theory supporters allege was a place designed to support Fatah, would have been easier to justify if it was directed against Muslims. “Nevertheless, he would only then have been brushed off as the one that killed Muslims because he did not like Islam. Whether you like it or not, that person was quite shrewd. What he did is despicable, but he managed to make people curious.”

‘Nazi salute’ EDL supporter banned from football matches

A football hooligan who performed a Nazi salute and unveiled an English Defence League flag has been banned from football matches.

Lincoln City supporter Peter Briggs, 19, was associated with several violent flare-ups at football matches between 2009 and February this year. He appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 5, where Lincolnshire Police applied for a civil banning order against him.
