Left-Right anti-Muslim alliance in the Netherlands

Council of ex-MuslimsCritic of Islam, Ehsan Jami, and Freedom Party leader, Geert Wilders, compared the Prophet Mohammed to Adolf Hitler in a co-written article published in the Dutch daily Volkskrant Thursday.

In their article, Wilders and Jami say strong criticism of Islam is absolutely necessary. “If we do not act now against the far-reaching Islamisation of the Netherlands, then the 1930s will be revived. The only difference is that back then the danger came from Adolf Hitler, while today it comes from Mohammed.”

The worst of Worcester

Worcester“Think of Worcester and a vision of a pretty cathedral, rolling hills and the famous Malvern natural springs would probably come to the mind of Guardian readers…. The truth is, if you are British Pakistani or Pakistan-born male, there are few less desirable places to live in Britain than Worcester.

“Why? The following brutal attacks have occurred on Pakistani taxi drivers in recent times: • A driver was doused with petrol and set on fire. • Another was left with psychological problems after being smashed over the head with a metal bar. • Another was almost choked to death with his seatbelt. • Another was stabbed and left for dead. • In yet another incident, a driver suffered severe facial injuries after being lured by his passengers into a quiet cul-de-sac….

“Some of the community I spoke to blame the British National Party for ratcheting-up racial tensions through leaflets that complain migrant workers take up jobs previously held by ‘British’ students. Others warn of the Islamification of Britain and appeal for an end to new mosques in the city. Pakistanis claim that the attacks follow terrorism-related stories that appear in the media; it gives white racists an excuse to relieve their frustration on innocent cab drivers. Only this summer a CS gas canister was thrown into Worcester Central Mosque.”

‘PC cops endanger public’ fascists claim

BNP fascism“Politically correct cops are failing to protect the public from possible terrorist attacks from Islamic extremists. That’s the stark conclusion from the latest figures from Scotland Yard which reveal that more than half of the 32,000 people stopped under the Terrorism Act between April and August this year were white….

“It is ludicrous that the Met’s well paid chiefs haven’t got their head around the fact not a single one of the Islamic terrorists who blew themselves up along with 52 innocent commuters on 7th July 2005 was of white European descent, that not a single member of the failed 21st July bombings was of white European descent and that the failed bombers who targeted the West End of London and Glasgow Airport in August were all Asian (specifically Middle Eastern/Pakistani Asian) males.

“It is the Met’s misguided fear of alienating ethnic minority communities that places the entire British public in danger.”

‘A British company welcomes its future overlords’

Bakery giants Greggs have installed a Muslims-only toilet at their new Scottish headquarters – despite the fact that no Muslims work there. Workers at the state-of-the-art factory were shocked when they were given a tour of the building and told a cubicle had been fitted for the use of Muslim employees.

But staff at the new £15million plant labelled the decision “political correctness gone mad”. One said: “We were being given a guided tour of the new factory before moving there when they told us that they had a toilet for use only by Muslims. I couldn’t believe, everybody was stunned because we don’t know of any Muslims who are working here. I don’t think anybody is really angry about it, but there just doesn’t seem to be any need for it. This sort of things is just political correctness gone mad.”

Another worker said: “The toilet just looks like a ceramic hole in the ground. I don’t think it will be getting much use and I don’t see why we couldn’t all just use the same toilet anyway. This sort of thing creates divisions between the workers.”

Of course, this sort of report is seized on by the far Right to back up their paranoid racist fantasies about the “Islamisation” of the UK.

And right-wing Australian blogger Tim Blair reports the story under the headline “A British company welcomes its future overlords“.

Vlaams Belang: ‘Stop Islamisation’

Vlaams BelangBRUSSELS – Extreme right wing Vlaams Belang is going to launch a campaign to “stop Islamisation,” first in Antwerp and later in other cities. The party is calling for a stop to the registration of newcomers in the city, a restriction on the number of mosques, and the expulsion of radical imams.

VB faction leader in the Flemish Parliament Filip Dewinter says that Islam is pursuing a deliberate strategy to conquer Flemish cities. That is being done through increasing concentration, the formation of ghettos, and the refusal to integrate, he says.

More and more native Belgians are leaving the cities and the government is making the situation worse, Dewinter says. “Allah is great and Patrick Janssens [Socialist Party mayor of Antwerp] is his prophet. He keeps giving in on essential issues and is not putting a stop to the Islamisation of our city,” Dewinter says.

Vlaams Belang wants to put a stop to immigration to Antwerp and encourage voluntary repatriation. In addition Vlaams Belang wants Islam to be scrapped as a recognised religion and that any subsidies be stopped.

“Personal religious observance should be free, also for Muslims, but we do not think that a sort of Islamic pillar of society should be created in our country to which we have to make all sorts of concessions, like segregated swimming areas and halal food in public schools,” Dewinter says. “Islam must adapt to our way of life, not the other way round “, Dewinter stressed.

Apologists for terrorists condemn ‘apologists for terrorists’

Islam a threat to us all“The politically correct lobby has already started to swing into action feeding the public the same tired old lines about tolerant Islam, but it seems that some sections of the Muslim community are more interested in denying there is a problem and even worse blaming others for it. BNP Scotland say public safety should come first and neither terrorism nor apologists for terrorists should not [sic] be tolerated in civilised Western society.”

Thus the BNP’s “crime correspondent” (well, given the BNP leaders’ long list of criminal convictions, they’d know all about that wouldn’t they?) at BNP Regional voices, 18 September 2007

The “apologists for terrorists”, according to the BNP, include Mohammed Atif Siddique’s father and lawyer, and Osama Saeed of the Muslim Association of Britain (for Osama’s actual views, see here and here).

Of course, if the BNP want to find actual apologists for terrorists they can find them rather closer to home.

‘Scottish kids forced to visit mosques’, fascists complain

“Politically correct brainwashing sank to a new low today with the unbelievable announcement today that Scottish children in Clackmannanshire schools will be sent to local mosques to learn about tolerance in the wake of the conviction of Alva based Islamic terrorist Mohammed Siddique.

“Yes, you read that correctly. A Muslim man is convicted on terrorism charges and Clackmannanshire Council’s Education Department – Siddique used to attend Alva Academy – and Ochil and South Perthshire Labour MP Gordon Banks plan to send non-Muslim kids to mosques to ‘increase their understanding of other religions’.

“Surely in wake of the events, if such a hair-brained scheme is to be undertaken, then it is young Muslim kids who should be invited to churches and synagogues to teach them about being tolerant of other religions, so that we do not see any more Mohammed Saddique’s in court charged with spreading religious hatred and terrorism.”

Calderoli outrages Italy’s Muslims

Roberto CalderoliA far-right Italian senator outraged Muslims on Thursday by calling for a “Pig Day” protest against the planned construction of a mosque in northern Italy.

Roberto Calderoli of the anti-immigrant Northern League party said he was ready to bring his own pig to “defile” the site where the mosque is due to be built in the northern city of Bologna.

“I am making myself and my pig available for a walk at the site where they want to build the mosque,” Calderoli, who is a deputy speaker of Italy’s Senate, said in a statement. Calderoli also said he would eat “a nice plateful of pork chops to show my lack of sympathy for those who consider pork forbidden meat.”

See also Catholic World News, which quotes condemnation of Calderoli’s comments by Italy’s welfare minister, Paolo Ferrero of the Communist Refoundation Party. “I apologize to Muslims living in Italy on behalf of all civilized Italians,” Ferrero said.

Police arrest two far-right Belgian leaders at anti-Islam 9/11 protest

Stop IslamisationBRUSSELS, Belgium: Police arrested two leaders of a Belgian far-right party Tuesday for staging an illegal protest against the “Islamization of Europe,” six years to the day after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

Police scuffled with some of the 200 people who converged on two squares in the EU district of Brussels to protest against what they perceived as the rise of Islam as a significant political force across Europe. Officers handcuffed two leaders of the far-right Flemish Interest Party, which is very critical of Muslim immigrants, and took them away in police vans.

The Italian Foreign Ministry said it was protesting the detention of an Italian member of the European Parliament, Mario Borghezio, who attended the demonstration. Borghezio is from the Northern League, an Italian regional party with an anti-immigrant stance. Italian state TV showed footage of Borghezio yelling as police were taking him away that he is a member of the European Parliament. He was later released.

Protesters sought to use the Sept. 11 anniversary to point out that Islam threatens democracy and the rule of law in Europe. The demonstration was initially planned by Stop Islamization of Europe, a loose alliance with roots in Germany, Britain and Denmark, which had predicted that 20,000 people would come to Brussels from all over Europe. Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans banned the protest last month, calling SIOE an inflammatory group and its proposed demonstration a threat to public order. An appeals court upheld the ban Aug. 29.

Only 200 or so protesters showed up Tuesday for a protest lasting only 30 minutes. The demonstrators faced more than 100 police, backed up by water cannons and helicopters, who closed off streets around the EU headquarters.

“We support the goals of the demonstration to protest against the lack of freedom of expression in this country,” said Frank Vanhecke, the head of the Flemish Interest Party, before he was bundled off to the police station. “And we also we fully agree that the rise of Islam in Europe poses a risk to our values.”

Associated Press, 11 September 2007

The British National Party declares its solidarity with its far-right co-thinkers in Brussels, and warns: “Europe looks set for more of these kinds of protests as decent European patriots become more and more frustrated and angered by the endless appeasement by liberal-leftists in positions of power and influence.”
