‘The Queen hosts a halal state banquet’ shock

Abdullah Gul with QueenThe Queen held a halal state banquet at Buckingham Palace for Turkish President Abdullah Gul tonight and promised British backing for his country’s bid to join the European Union.

She celebrated ever-closer political and economic ties between the two nations, despite concerns over allowing the predominantly Asian and Muslim country into the EU.

“We have come through a great deal together to develop what is, today, a very modern partnership,” she said. “In Europe, the British Government remains committed to working with you to secure your place in the European Union.”

The 85-year-old monarch and 170 British and Turkish guests sat down to a completely halal state banquet of lamb from the royal estate at Windsor in the palace ballroom.

“It’s a matter of politeness that it’s halal. The President and his wife are guests of the Queen. We wouldn’t do a separate menu for them so everyone eats the same,” a palace spokeswoman said.

Herman Cain thanked God his doctor wasn’t a Muslim

Herman Cain faced a backlash today over his admission that he was worried about being treated by his cancer doctor because he “sounded too foreign.”

The Republican presidential candidate said he was worried the physician – a Dr. Abdallah – was not Christian after learning he came from Lebanon. After being told his doctor was, indeed, a Christian, Cain said he whooped: “Hallelujah! Thank God!”

EDL man jailed for racial harassment fails to get sentence reduced

Daniel Parker EDLAn English Defence League supporter who was jailed for chanting racist slogans at Muslim worshippers failed to get his sentence cut. Daniel Philip Parker, 39, shouted slogans including “Muslim bombers off our streets” near Barnsley’s Muslim Community Centre after returning from an EDL rally in Blackburn in April.

In September, following a guilty plea to religiously aggravated harassment, Parker, of Prince Arthur Street, Barnsley, was jailed for eight months at Sheffield Crown Court. He appealed, but was told by two senior judges at London’s Court of Appeal that the eight-month term was justified for such a serious incident.

Judge Michael Mettyear QC said Parker was of good character and had shown remorse for his actions, but his offence was too serious to merit a cut in the sentence.

“It goes without saying that conduct such as the appellant’s is regarded as very serious, particularly so when it is seen in the light of the conduct of those others in his party, who were behaving at least as badly as he was. Fortunately, serious violence did not erupt, but it is easy to see how a major reaction could have resulted from such disgraceful and frightening behaviour.”

Barnsley Chronicle, 21 November 2011

Meanwhile, EDL supporters have reportedly attacked protestors at the Occupy Bristol camp.

Pickles and Warsi wrestle for control of Government strategy on anti-Muslim hatred

Well, that’s what Paul Goodman reports at ConservativeHome. And while Goodman may know very little about Islam or Islamism, he is well informed about developments in the Tory Party.

According to Goodman, Sayeeda Warsi is promoting a new organisation to be called the Muslim Leadership Council or Panel (MLC), which she argues should be strongly represented in a new government working group on anti-Muslim hatred. Goodman says that his sources have told him that one original MLC nominee, former MCB secretary general Sir Iqbal Sacranie, has already been rejected by the government.

Goodman suggests that other proposed members of the MLC are also questionable because of their “Islamist” connections. Bizarrely, Goodman names one of these sinister Islamists as Sarah Joseph of the Muslim lifestyle magazine Emel, on the basis that she is a member of the Islamic Society of Britain and once worked for the MCB. Akeela Ahmed of Muslim Youth Helpline is another individual who Goodman thinks is dubious, because MYH is an MCB affiliate. Goodman also regards Iftikhar Awan and Jehangir Malik as inappropriate representatives on the MLC because of their links to Islamic Relief.

EDL mosque protest thug told to do more unpaid work

Blaise SilvesterA thug who was lucky to avoid going to jail after trouble flared at a protest outside a mosque has been back in court for breaching his community order.

Blaise Silvester was given a two-month curfew and told to do 100 hours of unpaid work after a demonstration outside the Jami Mosque in Victoria Road North, Southsea, got out of hand.

Sentencing him in June, Judge Graham White said the 21-year-old could normally have gone to jail. But a mistake by the probation service meant the judge’s hands were tied and he had to hand Silvester a community order.

Drunk abused Muslim woman in headscarf

A mother-of-three racially abused a Muslim woman before spitting in the face of a police officer, a court has heard.

India McConnell, of Netley Road, Newbury Park, stood in front of a woman wearing a burka before shouting a racist slur and telling her to “go home”. Redbridge Magistrates’ Court heard the 27-year-old had been drinking the previous day and all night before the incident at 8.45am in Ilford Lane at its junction with Winston Way on October 4.

In a statement read out by the prosecution lawyer, a witness said Miss McConnell pulled up her top mimicking the woman’s head scarf before shouting the abuse. The witness said the woman was with four children, two in prams, who were “horrified”. He asked why she was shouting to which she replied: “This is England. She should go back home.”

He said she was becoming confrontational and she tried to get him into a side road. Fearing for his safety he called police. On seeing police Miss McConnell ran off through the car park of the Exchange Ilford, the court heard on Thursday. She was detained and arrested by Pc Simon Jackson and taken to Barkingside Police Station in a van. She had been kicking the door and when it was opened by Mr Jackson she remained aggressive and spat in his face, magistrates were told.

Miss McConnell pleaded guilty to using racially aggravated threatening and abusive words or behaviour but insisted she was not racist. She was bailed and will be sentenced on December 1.

English Defence League – not racist?

The endless refrain of the English Defence League is they can’t be racist, because Islam is not a race. EDL leader Stephen Lennon has even stated that he supports a multicultural Britain, and he recently assured his local paper that if racists are ever found in the ranks of the EDL they are kicked out.

Evidently, not all of the EDL’s leading members are on message. Here is a comment that was posted earlier today on the EDL’s Facebook page. It expresses views on race, national identity and multiculturalism that could easily have appeared on a white supremacist forum like Stormfront:

West Midlands mosque vandalised

Darlaston mosque graffitiThe Masjid-E-Umar in Darlaston, West Midlands was vandalised on the morning of Remembrance Day in what is suspected to be a hate crime in retaliation against the fifty Muslim individuals who took part in burning poppies on Remembrance Day 2010.

The attack occurred between the hours of 7:30am and 11:00am. The suspects were said to have jumped over the locked gates and spray painted a graffiti image of a poppy on the mosque door with the text “Burn this one” to signal the mosque as an adherent to the poppy burning incident.

In 2010, to commemorate Remembrance Day, fifty individuals under a now banned extremist group Muslim Against Crusades, took part in burning poppies near Albert Hall in London clashing with far-right extremist group, the English Defence League (EDL).

CCTV was in operation outside the mosque but no footage of the perpetrators had been captured.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after 12pm and patrolled the area for the remainder of the day. The graffiti was removed but the mosque door was damaged.

Disintegrating BNP tries to revive fortunes with ‘Koran Fried Chicken’ protest

BNP KFC protest2The BNP reports that it held a demonstration in Wakefield on Saturday against halal chicken being sold at KFC restaurants.

The protest was attended by “members and officials from across Yorkshire”, we’re told – which, judging from the photographs accompanying the article, amounted to no more than seven people.

The BNP might also like to reconsider posting this picture from the protest, which appears to be encouraging motorists to drive through one of the BNP demonstrators. Excellent advice, it must be said.
