Republican congressman says Islam will ‘motivate people to murder children’

Dana Rohrabacher 2Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) during a hearing on Friday said that he believes that Islam as a whole is a threat to the United States, labeling it as a religion that will “motivate people to murder children.”

During a hearing he chaired on “Islamist Extremism in Chechnya: A Threat to the U.S. Homeland?” Rohrabacher continually referred to the 2004 Beslan hostage situation – in which Chechen extremists took control of a school in Russia resulting in the death of more than 180 children – as an example of the threat that Islam poses.

Australia: Murdoch newspaper commissions article from Wilders on Boston bombings

Fox News has disgraced itself over its coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing by providing a platform for a succession of notorious Islamophobes to whip up fear and hatred of Muslims. Not to be outdone, the Murdoch-owned newspaper The Australian has commissioned a piece from Geert Wilders on the subject.

Fox News host smears Keith Ellison as ‘very dangerous’ and ‘the Muslim apologist in Congress’

Bolling smears EllisonThe Five, Eric Bolling took a baseless swipe at Rep. Keith Ellison, calling him “very dangerous” and “the Muslim apologist in Congress.”

The only person who challenged that disgusting statement was Dana Perino. “Liberal” Bob Beckel didn’t say a word.

In fact, the clip opens with Beckel criticizing Ellison’s comments on the reactions in the aftermath of the Boston bombings. Beckel said, “Religion is politics… Sharia law itself is rooted in imams and clerics who teach this stuff. …He’s just flat wrong.

Bolling chimed in. “He’s also very dangerous. He’s kind of been like the Muslim apologist in Congress for a long time he raised his right hand and took the oath of office on the Koran… I think it’s time for profiling, don’t you?” Andrea Tantaros agreed, sneering, “Hans and Sven are not on the FBI’s most wanted list.”

UKIP stands by Rotherham local election candidate with BNP links

Caven VinesThe UK Independence party’s local election candidate in Rotherham has had close links to the British National party and thinks there are too many Muslims in Britain – but having been alerted to his views and background, the party’s central command refused to condemn his remarks.

Caven Vines, 62, used to work closely with the BNP’s Rotherham organiser, Marlene Guest, in a campaign group called Council Watch. He has never been a BNP member but spent 2004-2006 as an independent councillor for the Rotherham West ward and is well known locally for his rightwing views.

Vines is standing in the Rawmarsh ward in a byelection triggered by the resignation of Labour’s Shaun Wright, who became South Yorkshire’s police and crime commissioner last year, despite his BNP connections. Wright’s wife, Lisa, is hoping to keep the seat in the family and is standing for Labour.

Islamophobia? It’s just ‘a figment of liberals’ imaginations’

Well, that’s what Brendan O’Neill argues at the Telegraph. He asserts that there is no sign of any mass outbreak of anti-Muslim bigotry in the United States following the Boston bombing. But then, O’Neill is part of a political tendency – formerly the ultra-left Revolutionary Communist Party but now organised around the right-wing libertarian online magazine spiked, whose adherents have long argued that Islamophobia is a myth.

Boston suspect’s widow ‘ought to be in prison for wearing a hijab’

Appearing on Fox News Republican talk show “Hannity” Monday night, right-wing columnist Ann Coulter said she’s sad that not only does she think the Boston bombing should shut down the nation’s immigration reform debate, she would like to see the alleged bomber’s widow in jail too, not for committing a crime but for “wearing a hijab.”

“I don’t care if she knew about this,” Coulter said. “She ought to be in prison for wearing a hijab. This immigration policy of us, you know, assimilating immigrants into our culture isn’t really working. They’re assimilating us into their culture. Did she get a clitorectomy too?”

Hannity seemed momentarily puzzled at the sudden citation of female genital mutilation, stammering his reply. “I, uh, I don’t know the answer to that,” he said before confidently adding: “But your point is well taken.”

US talk show host calls for end to Muslim immigration

Laura IngrahamOn her show today, right wing radio host Laura Ingraham said that the United States should no longer allow immigrants from majority Muslim nations. Ingraham added that she didn’t think people from Central Asia should be allowed in at all:

“How do we give asylum to people from Islamic countries, or Islamic territories, who are claiming that they are somehow deserving of this? I don’t even understand that… I would submit that people shouldn’t be coming here as tourists from Chechnya after 9/11. Dagestan, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan, uh-uh. As George Bush would say, ‘None of them stans’.”
