Australian police investigate ‘anti-Islamic website’

Federal police are investigating an anti-Islamic website that calls on supporters across Australia to oppose a mosque planned for North Cairns.

The “Winds of Jihad” website, created by a Cairns man who calls himself Sheik Yer’Mami, includes instructions to “do whatever it takes to stop them (Muslims) from spreading their tentacles”. It also urges opponents of a mosque being built at 31 Dunn St, opposite the Pioneer cemetery, to launch a public campaign against the development.

The Far North’s Muslim spiritual leader Imam Abdul Aziz labelled the website as “vulgar”, saying he contacted the Australian Federal Police yesterday to alert them to the website. He said the AFP was investigating the website because of its offensive and racist content.

Mosque leaflet man could be charged

The group which delivered anti-Muslim leaflets to homes in Preston may be prosecuted. But the man behind the literature, which attacked plans to expand the Masjid-e-Salaam mosque in Fulwood, hit back at his critics and said he was entitled to have his say. The police have conceded British National Party member Tony Bamber may be protected under human rights legislation. Officers say they have received “a significant number” of complaints after the leaflets peddling anti-Muslim views were delivered to homes in Fulwood, Ingol and Cottam.

The BNP’s new intellectual guru

HateThe anti-fascist magazine Searchlight investigates the British National Party’s efforts to win respectability by covering “its racist anti-Muslim bashing with a quasi-intellectual veneer”. According to their report:

“A key figure in this process is a name unfamiliar to most. Described by John Bean, lifelong fascist officer and editor of Identity, as ‘the BNP economics guru’, Alan Goodacre has come from nowhere to command a key role in the formation of BNP policy…. According to Bean, Goodacre is also editor of the BNP’s Jihad Watch bulletin, one of several subscription email bulletins that the BNP sends out, which contain not original research but a highly selective set of press cuttings that give the deliberately distorted impression of an impending demographic and economic collapse: an acute blend of paranoia and fantasy dressed up as news.

“Goodacre also stated his intention to try and gain the help of Adrian Morgan who writes regularly for the Western Resistance website and has previously contributed to the Guardian and New Scientist and was once a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Society. Morgan also contributes to the ‘Islam Watch’ website … which would explain Goodacre’s interest in him. Indeed, Goodacre’s evident Islamophobia led him to write a letter to the Jewish Chronicle claiming that the party had genuinely repudiated anti-semitism and no longer denied the Holocaust (which is news to us), while appealing to British Jews to understand that the BNP ‘are the only party in Britain that is truly fighting the Islamofascist threat’.”

Pig tactics threatened

DemokrateneNorwegian anti-immigration politicians in Bergen have promised to chase off Muslims with pigs feet and squealing noises if Bergen’s central square is used for prayers.

The leader of the Demokratene, an extreme populist party formed by outcasts of the populist Progress Party, Vidar Kleppe, said Wednesday that he backed the remarks of city council representative Kenneth Rasmussen.

Rasmussen reacted with threats of porcine tactics after Labour Party politician Jerad Abdelmajid said that the city’s Muslims could take their Friday prayers in Torgallmenningen, Bergen’s central square, when they will be without a mosque from March 31. Building of a new mosque is behind schedule.

“I completely agree with Kenneth Rasmussen that Muslims having their Friday prayers with their butts in the air in the city center is no solution. They can find other places,” Kleppe told news agency NTB.

Kenneth Rasmussen told newspaper Dagbladet‘s web site that Bergen residents should hang up pig’s feet and play pig squeals over loudspeakers to scare off Muslims, and claimed these tactics worked when he was a soldier for the United Nations in Somalia and Lebanon in the 1990s.

Dudley mosque bid thrown out

No mosque here 3

An £18 million mosque and community centre for Dudley has been thrown out against the advice of planning experts – but the battle will almost certainly continue with an appeal.

One man was arrested during scuffles outside the meeting to consider the plan which prompted the biggest protest campaign in memory.

Anti-mosque campaigners cheered after proposals for a £6 million mosque with 65ft minaret and £12 million community centre were rejected by all nine members of the planning committee. But chairman of Dudley Muslim Association Khurshid Ahmed today said the bid to build the mosque would almost certainly continue.

Islam is taking over, says Dutch politician

An anti-immigrant politician is making a meteoric rise with his call on the Dutch – once one of the most tolerant nations in the world – to stop Islam taking over Europe.

Geert Wilders, the 43-year-old leader of the Freedom Party, is convinced that governments are being forced to accommodate a “tsunami of Islamisation” that is fundamentally incompatible with European social values.

“Islam itself is the problem. Islam is a violent religion,” he told The Daily Telegraph. “The Prophet Mohammed was a violent man. The Koran is mostly a violent book. We should invest in Muslim people but they have to first get rid of half the Koran and half of their beliefs,” he said.

The Freedom Party has jumped from six to 10 per cent in opinion polls since November. His passionate campaign for a ban on the Islamic veil, or burqa, in public places is gaining such momentum that the country’s new coalition government could be forced to introduce the ban it does not support.

On the burqa, Mr Wilders is adamant: “It is a medieval token of a barbaric time, of how not to treat women, even if they want to wear it themselves,” he argues.

Ham & High editor defends BNP interview

Hampstead & Highgate Express editor Geoff Martin has defended his decision to publish a comment from the British National Party on its front page after coming under attack from Camden Council.

Deputy Labour leader at the council and former executive member for equalities and community development Theo Blackwell wrote a letter of complaint for publication in the paper after a member of the far-right party, Peter [sic] Edwards, was quoted on the front page opposing an ethnic majority school’s decision to serve Halal food.

In his letter, Blackwell said: “BNP leader Nick Griffin must have a grin as wide as a Cheshire cat that the views of his party are given prominence in Camden by the Ham & High.

“The serious investigation undertaken by The Guardian into BNP entryism in North London before Christmas seems to have passed you by, as does the fact that another article in your paper noted the rise of anti-semitism in the area. As a borough, Camden has a strong track record on community cohesion and we hope you will join us and so many others in questioning the BNP’s relevance in this matter.

“Your editorial decision to give the BNP prominence was wrong and we strongly urge you to revisit your policy as a matter of urgency.”

Blackwell told Press Gazette: “There was no quote from Labour, Conservatives or Liberal Democrats; that would have showed balance. The BNP has no relevance in Camden as it is not represented here.”

‘Muslims can’t rule in school’

Carole MaloneCarole Malone serves up another hysterical “Muslims are trying to take over our country” misrepresentation of the MCB’s recommendations concerning provision for young Muslims at school. Basic message is – if you don’t like “our” culture, go back where you came from:

“Just where does the Muslim Council of Great Britain get off demanding that Muslim schoolchildren have their own changing rooms in schools for sport and swimming? They also want single-sex classes for sex education, different assemblies, their own prayer rooms and special canteen staff to prepare halal food.

“Oh yes, and they want girls to be allowed to wear headscarves in all lessons and male pupils to be allowed to grow beards if they want to. Not only that but the Council want the whole exam schedule to be revised so that Muslims don’t have to take exams during Ramadan because they’re weakened by fasting.

“One wonders why the Muslims who agree with these demands bother to live in this country at all – because patently nothing about it suits them. One also wonders what would happen if Christian children living in an Islamic country rocked up to school wearing a skirt above the knee, a bit of make-up and a shirt that showed off a few centimetres of flesh. At a guess they’d be stoned to death.

“I’m sorry but there’s no other country in the civilised world that busts a gut the way Britain does to be inclusive and to promote cultural diversity. But these latest demands from a community that accounts for just three per cent of the British population is a joke. Strikes me the Muslim Council will only ever stop whinging the day Britain becomes an Islamic state. And that’s never going to happen. And if they’re so unhappy with British schools and what goes on in them, why don’t they shove off somewhere that suits them better – like Afghanistan.”

On the other hand, the National Association of Head Teachers has welcomed the MCB’s “helpful and useful document“. But what would they know?

MCB advocates ‘Taliban-style conditions’ in state schools, claims Express

Express Muslims Tell Us How to Run Our Schools“Demands for a ban on ‘un-Islamic’ activities in schools will be set out by the Muslim Council of Britain today.

“Targets include playground games, swimming lessons, school plays, parents’ evenings and even vaccinations. And the calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions will be launched with the help of a senior Government education adviser….

“Terry Sanderson of the National Secular Society said the report was a ‘recipe for disaster’…. ‘The MCB shouldn’t try to force its religious agenda on children who may not want it. The Government needs to send the MCB packing’.”

Islamophobia Watch uncovered – shock revelations!

Over at Western Resistance (and the right-wing US website Family Security Matters) Adrian Morgan exposes two of the evil geniuses behind Islamophobia Watch.

Apparently Eddie Truman is “both a member of Britain’s Communist Party and spokesman of the Scottish Socialist Party”. This will come as a surprise to other leading figures in the SSP, who were under the illusion that Eddie was solely a member of their own party. Now that Morgan’s careful and painstaking research has uncovered this double-dealing, no doubt the SSP will be taking disciplinary action against the two-timing Truman.

As for yours truly, I was “formerly secretary of the Workers Revolutionary Party”. Damn! All those years secretly operating at the head of the WRP, hiding behind the cunning pseudonym “Gerry Healy”, and now I’ve finally been rumbled.

Though, to be fair, Adrian Morgan isn’t opposed to all lefties. He applauds certain “Marxist members of the left” who have condemned the alliance between socialists and Muslims that arose out of the anti-war movement, and he provides a link to an article by Alliance for Workers’ Liberty guru Sean Matgamna (or “Sean Mantegna”, as Morgan prefers to call him) which describes the SWP as the “socialist outrider for Islam in Britain”.

First Melanie Phillips expressing her admiration for him, and now Western Resistance – my, isn’t Sean a popular figure among Islamophobes.
