Republican politicans and local officials aren’t rebuking or criticising Rick Womick for saying Muslims shouldn’t be allowed in the U.S. military, but Democrats have strong words for his controversial remarks, the Daily News Journal reports.

Jerusalem Post boosts Wilders’ party
The Jerusalem Post has a report applauding the role of Geert Wilders’ party, the PVV, in encouraging the Dutch government to adopt an aggressive policy towards Iran.
The paper hails Wim Kortenoeven [pictured], the PVV MP who apparently played a leading role in drawing up a resolution calling for tougher sanctions against Iran, as “one of Europe’s most prominent advocates for Israel’s security”, and portrays Wilders’ party as an important ally of Israel:
Pickles and Warsi wrestle for control of Government strategy on anti-Muslim hatred
Well, that’s what Paul Goodman reports at ConservativeHome. And while Goodman may know very little about Islam or Islamism, he is well informed about developments in the Tory Party.
According to Goodman, Sayeeda Warsi is promoting a new organisation to be called the Muslim Leadership Council or Panel (MLC), which she argues should be strongly represented in a new government working group on anti-Muslim hatred. Goodman says that his sources have told him that one original MLC nominee, former MCB secretary general Sir Iqbal Sacranie, has already been rejected by the government.
Goodman suggests that other proposed members of the MLC are also questionable because of their “Islamist” connections. Bizarrely, Goodman names one of these sinister Islamists as Sarah Joseph of the Muslim lifestyle magazine Emel, on the basis that she is a member of the Islamic Society of Britain and once worked for the MCB. Akeela Ahmed of Muslim Youth Helpline is another individual who Goodman thinks is dubious, because MYH is an MCB affiliate. Goodman also regards Iftikhar Awan and Jehangir Malik as inappropriate representatives on the MLC because of their links to Islamic Relief.
US Muslims are ‘ordinary folks just like you and me’? That can’t be true
TLC’s reality TV show “All-American Muslim“, which focuses on the lives of five Muslim families in Dearborn, Michigan, has been getting up the noses of US Islamophobes.

Chicago: racist airport worker who incited hatred against Muslims is fired
Roy Egan, an O’Hare Airport baggage handler who allegedly spewed racist and bigoted rants against Muslims, African Americans, Latinos and homosexuals on his Facebook page has been fired, according to the Chicago Council on American-Islamic Relations. CAIR said Egan had worked at the airport for nine years, was suspended in October and terminated this month.
Egan used his Facebook page, where he openly identified himself as a TSA officer, to post comments such as: “FILTHY MUSLIM,” Muslims “need to be exterminated”, “BURN ISLAM”, “Islam, a cult that glorifies death,” and “Does anything at all make you smile more than a Muslim burning by his own hateful hand.” He also posted remarks about President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Attorney General Eric Holder.
CAIR-Chicago representatives met with Transportation Security Administration leadership in Chicago three weeks ago to voice the concerns of the Muslim community about the incident and to ask that more be done to prevent future incidents from happening.
Rick Womick calls Allah a ‘false god’, warns of a Muslim immigrant ‘population jihad’
Think Progress publishes more extracts from its interview with Rick Womick. According to Womick almost 30% of the population of Europe is now Muslim, a figure that will rise to over 50% within 20 to 25 years. Already in the UK “you have no go zones that are completely dominated by sharia law”. Womick claims that in the United States “we’re predicted to be over 50% Muslim some time by 2050 to 2055”. And bear in mind that this man isn’t some lunatic blogger. He’s a Republican representative in the Tennessee state legislature.
FBI reports dramatic spike in anti-Muslim hate crime

Anti-Muslim hate crimes soared by an astounding 50% last year, skyrocketing over 2009 levels in a year marked by the vicious rhetoric of Islam-bashing politicians and activists, especially over the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque” in New York City.
Although the national statistics compiled by the FBI each year are known to dramatically understate the real level of reported and unreported hate crimes, they do offer telling indications of some trends. The latest statistics, showing a jump from 107 anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2009 to 160 in 2010, seem to reflect a clear rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric from groups like Stop Islamization of America. Much of that rhetoric was aimed at stopping an Islamic center in lower Manhattan.
Students at Indiana college protest against professor’s anti-Muslim comments
Anti-Muslim comments made by a PUC professor on his public Facebook page and during his class lectures have led to campus-wide outrage and student protests.
Energetic chants such as “No more Eisenstein, Eisenstein must go!” and “They say get back, we say fight back!” echoed throughout the courtyard between the Gyte and SUL buildings on Nov. 9 and 10. Students held signs and handed out transcripts of Eisenstein’s Facebook comments while expressing their opinions as others came and went between classes. Approximately 50 to 70 students took part in the protest.
Associate Professor of Political Science, Maurice Moshe Eisenstein posted comments attached with a link to a YouTube video on his Facebook page on Nov. 6, where he asked for justice for the killings of black Christians in Nigeria while lashing out towards Muslims. The video link was found by another PUC professor, which then started a heated debate between Eisenstein and PUC students via Facebook. On one of Facebook comments, Eisenstein wrote that “Muslims are barbarians and that they are nothing more to me than dogs.”

Muslims call for apology from Womick

Local Muslims are calling for action against a Tennessee State Representative Rick Womick after he said Muslims shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the U.S. military.
In an interview with thinkprogress.org, Womick said, “Personally, I don’t trust one Muslim in our military, because they are commanded to lie to us through a term called taqiyya, and if they truly are a devout Muslim and follow the Quoran, then I feel threatened, because they are commanded to kill me.”
Those comments came during a conference of conservative activists that focused on the threat of Islamic extremism in America.
Cain: majority of US Muslims are extremists
Herman Cain said that he believes a majority of American Muslims share extremist views in an interview published on Monday.
In an interview that included a few eyebrow-raising comments, Cain’s exchange about American Muslims may get the most attention. “I have had one very well-known Muslim voice say to me directly that a majority of Muslims share the extremist views,” Cain said in an interview with GQ.
